Preparations Final for 6th Sean’s Run

Chatham, April 25, 2007 - For about 45 minutes Sunday afternoon, April 29th, some of the streets of Chatham village will be filled with runners, joggers and walkers. They will be participants in the 6th Annual Sean’s Run Presented by First Niagara Bank.

Hundreds of people, coming from all over the region, of all ages, are anticipated on the starting line at Chatham High School for the 5K at 1 PM. They will follow a charming 3.1 mile course including Kinderhook Street, Woodbridge Avenue and past the historic Crandell Theater and landmark Clock Tower building on Main Street. A shorter event, Sean’s Mile, goes off first, at 12:30 PM. It is a one mile race for youngsters 12 and under, or a stroll for others who prefer a lesser distance.

All entrants are provided a souvenir event T-shirt, goodie bag and chance to win a raffle prize. On the course they will be treated to the music of live bands and once they finish, all can refuel on a great spread of nutritional refreshments. To register, go to the Sean’s Run website, www.SeansRun.com.

All proceeds go to fund year-round programs at schools across the region to combat underage drinking and impaired driving. Over the past four years, 38 programs have received grants from moneys raised at Sean’s Run.

NAME MISSING, of First Niagara Bank’s Eastern Region, and Nancy Zygmon from Sean’s Run, will present the 2006 Sean’s Run cash grants to 8 schools:

Taconic Hills

Berlin (Rensselaer County)
Averill Park (Rensselaer County)
Hoosick Falls (Rensselaer County)

Also MADD of the Capital District has been awarded a grant.

In addition to generous sponsorship from the bank, 35 employees of First Niagara Bank have volunteered to assist with producing the event on April 29th. They will be distributing race numbers, registering participants, and distributing timing chips. “First Niagara Bank is a wonderful partner, thanks to them it looks like the 6th Sean’s Run will be the best ever!” said Jeff French, General Chairman.
