Sean’s Run 2013 Sponsors Announced

Chatham, February 22, 2013:  First Niagara Bank, the perennial “Presenting Sponsor” of Sean’s Run, has again signed on to be Presenting Sponsor of the weekend event in 2013.  The 12th edition of Sean’s Run Weekend Presented by First Niagara Bank is slated for Saturday and Sunday, April 27 & 28, in Chatham.
The bank is joined by a group of 55 other businesses and individuals also committed to sponsoring Sean’s Run, one of the largest multi-sports events in the region, attracting 1,375 entrants last year. In addition to becoming a classic community event in the region, Sean’s Run has become the area’s springtime reminder about the pervasive problems of underage drinking, impaired driving and lax use of seatbelts by teenagers.

The Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation has signed on to be a new Gold Medal Sponsor.  The Foundation is supporting of the work of the Sean’s Run committee to fund programs at schools and youth groups designed to encourage safe driving by teens and to award scholarships to deserving high school seniors. In 12 years Sean’s Run has awarded $172,500 in grants and scholarships thanks to the generosity of sponsors and participants.

Sean’s Run, which began in 2002, originated as a 5K run/walk which continues as the flagship activity for the weekend.  Sunday activities now include Meghan’s Mile youth race, a tribute to victims of drunk driving, a Prevention Education Expo and the World Championship Battle of the Belts, a contest to encourage increased use of seatbelts by teenagers.

Saturday activities include a Special Needs Kids Race just for children with developmental disabilities, a Zumbathon® and the all-new Bike Rides, 20-mile and 50-mile supported rides for bicyclists of all abilities.

New sponsors supporting the Bike Rides component of Sean’s Run Weekend are Hudson Design Engineering, LLC, which is the Bike Ride Presenting Sponsor;  Robert Pinkowski and Kimberly Chrysler of Hudson; W. B. MASON; Dr. Bill Primomo, DDS of Albany; Cardona’s Market in Albany; Sam’s Italian Restaurant in Albany; Our Daily Bread of Chatham; RNL Entertainment of Amsterdam; Steiner’s Sports in Glenmont, Hudson, and Valatie; DJ Mxamis from Chatham; Federation of Polish Sportsmen in Hudson; and Kevin DeMassio Photography from Schenectady.
